Soledad Brother. The prison letters of George Jackson
AnonAn original promotional political poster, Soledad Brother. The prison letters of George Jackson, 1971. The poster promotes the publication (by Penguin/Cape) of a collection of letters written by George Jackson, a black man jailed for armed robbery, from inside a US prison. Jackson was later killed during a failed escape attempt at his trial for the 1970 murder of a prison guard. The collection is regarded as "an outspoken condemnation of the racism of white America and a powerful appraisal of the prison system that failed to break [Jackson’s] spirit but eventually took his life".
