Original political poster, The mountains and rivers of the Motherland are red, People's Republic of China, c. 1969. The poster depicts the figure of Chairman Mao at the centre of a red sun and above a multitude of smiling workers and service personnel many holding copies of the Selected Works of Mao Zedong. Numerous banners can also be seen bearing revolutionary slogans, including “Wish Chairman Mao a long life”, “Pakistani Proletarian Cultural Revolution”, “Long live Chairman Mao!” “Long live the Communist Party of China!” and “Long live the great leader Chairman Mao”.
