Rare original theatre poster for a production of Glamorous Night at the Theatre Royal, 1935. The musical was written by Ivor Novello with lyrics by Christopher Hassall. The lavish production starred Mary Ellis and Novello and was the first of several hit Novello musicals in the 1930s. In 1937 it was adapted as a film of the same name starring Mary Ellis and Otto Kruger. The poster has a very unusual ‘glossy’ background design of stars and abstract shapes, with gold lettering.
