Original double-sided Coin Street Action Group poster/newsletter, 1982. The Coin Street Action Group was established in 1977 in response to plans to build Europe’s tallest hotel and over 1 million square feet of office space on derelict land between Waterloo and Blackfriars bridges in central London. The resident-led campaign group was eventually successful in purchasing the 13-acre site from the Greater London Council and developing the area for new housing, with a riverside park and walkway, shops and leisure facilities.
