A unique, original, watercolour by the renowned British poster designer and marine artist, Frank H. Mason (1875-1965), depicting the steam cargo vessel TSS Port Wellington. The painting is dedicated To L.W from F.H.M 1932.

The Port Wellington was built by Workman, Clark & Co, Belfast in 1924 for the Commonwealth & Dominion Line (later known as the Port Line). During the Second World War, the ship was captured and scuttled by the German Navy.

Frank Henry Mason was especially well known for his magnificent series of posters promoting the London & North Eastern Railway and, later, British Railways. He was also a member of the Royal Society of British Artists and the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours. Examples of his work can be seen in many UK museums, including the National Maritime Museum, the Imperial War Museum, London Transport Museum, Cartwright Hall Bradford, and Hartlepool Art Gallery.
