David Hockney. Travels with Pen, Pencil and Ink. Drawings and Prints
David HockneyThis poster was designed by the British artist David Hockney for an exhibition of his drawings and prints held at the Tate Gallery in 1980. The design features Hockney’s 1972 portrait of Celia Birtwell, Celia in a Black Dress with White Flowers, within an additional pictorial frame. Hockney has also added stresses to the lettering and underlined the word ‘free’ to emphasise the accessible nature of the show. You can read our guide to buying vintage exhibition posters here.
