Original Second World War poster, Your Britain Fight for it Now, by Abram Games, 1942. This poster was issued by the Army Bureau of Current Affairs formed in 1941 to promote education and training during the war and in the post-war reconstruction period. The school featured is Impington College, Cambridge, designed by German-American architect Walter Gropius (1939), founder of the Bauhaus School of Architecture. The school’s modernist form, with sleek white and glass fronted design, was emblematic of modernist principles and seen as characteristic of the best developments in welfare and education. This focus on modernity and post-war progress was not typical of wartime propaganda, which often stressed the historical and rural qualities of Britian as reasons to ‘fight for’.

Games designed over 100 posters during the Second World War on behalf of the British war effort. This rare example comes direct from the artist’s estate and is hand signed on the reverse. A higher resolution image is available for viewing on request.
